Olivia Blatchford Beats Sabrina Sobhy In Five To Capture WSA Liberty Bell Open

January 14, 2012 - Olivia Blatchford of Connecticut came from two games down to overtake US junior champion Sabrina Sobhy yesterday and win the $5000 Liberty Bell Open in Berwyn, PA.

Blatchford squeaked out an 11-9 third game and then was able to pull away 3 and 3 in the fourth and fifth.

The linescore for the 19-year-old 64th-ranked Blatchford read 8-11 3-11 11-9 11-3 11-3.

In an intriguing semifinal matchup,16-year-old Sobhy of New York beat top seed and Pakistan #1 Maria Toor Pakay in five games, winning 6-11 11-5 10-12 11-7 11-6.

Blatchford straight-setted England's Georgina Stoker in the bottom semi.

It was the second career WSA title for Olivia.
