Former Trinity Player and SDA Star Shaun Johnstone Battling Cancer, Please Lend Support January 16, 2017
Dear SDA Supporters,
As many of you already know, Shaun
Johnstone was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Shaun is one
of the most popular and well respected players on the SDA Pro Tour and
in the greater squash community. He has contributed both on and off the
court as a Trinity graduate and the Head Squash Professional at the
Piping Rock Country Club. One of his close friends, Manek Mathur
recently wrote this about Shaun:
Shaun is one of the
best athletes I have come across in my life. He ran a faster 100m than
most kids on the track team at Trinity College and almost walked on to
the football team as a wide receiver.
Back in 2006, I can
clearly remember walking up to squash practice for the first time, not
knowing a soul. I sat down at the top of the pyramids and within
seconds, Shaun (then the #1 player on the team) came over to me, sat
down and hasn't stopped chatting with me since. We have grown to become
brothers and his energy, passion and integrity has always been an
inspiration to everyone around him. We felt it was important to reach out to
the greater SDA family to give everyone a chance to support Shaun's
