No. 3 Ranked Trinity Women Over No. 4 Yale 7-2

January 21, 2015 Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams won at the top-five positions in the lineup and swept the second wave to take a 7-2 victory over the visiting Yale University Bulldogs in women’s squash action this evening at Kellner Center.  Trinity, ranked No. 3 nationally but counting a 5-4 win at top-ranked Pennsylvania last week among its four wins since the latest poll, improves to 11-0, while No. 4-ranked Yale falls to 7-1.

Sophomore Anna Kimberley (Colchester, England) gave Trinity a good start with a 3-0 win in the No. 3 match, and senior Chanel Erasmus (Capetown, South Africa) added a 3-1 triumph at No. 9.  Yale senior captain Anne Harrison (Greenwich, Conn.) salvaged the first wave for the visitors with a 3-0 win at No. 6.  Rookies Raneem Sharaf (Giza, Egypt) and Karolina Holinkova (Krnov, Czech Republic) posted 3-0 win at No. 2 and No. 8, respectively, for a 4-1 Bantam lead, and junior No. 1 Kanzy El Defrawy (Cairo, Egypt) dominated her match with an 11-0, 11-3, 11-3 win to clinch the team decision.

Senior co-captain Ashley Tidman (Lamor-Plage, France) won, 3-1, and first-year Julia LeCoq (Cretell, France) came back from two games down to win, 3-2, at No. 4, while Bulldog junior Annie Ballaine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) pulled out a gueling five-setter to account for the 7-2 final tally.
