Revisiting/East versus West
by Nick-at-Will

April 8, 2018 - Once again, If there was ever an "imbalance" of East versus West regarding United States junior squash...this is it!

At the upcoming U.S. Squash Junior National Silver Championships scheduled to be held at the Meadow Mill Athletic Club in Baltimore over the April 20-22 weekend, there are now 284 players who have made...the "cut!"

Except for the boys and girls under 11 divisions, (where only 16 players are allowed to play), only 32 players have been accepted into each of the eight remaining draws who are nationally ranked below the top 32 players. This means that only #33 through #64 of the top-ranked junior players have been accepted into the remaining eight different 32-player draws.

Guess what...of the 284 players who HAVE made the "cut," 260 are from the east coast and only 24 from the west coast! That averages to just over two-players per division (from the west coast) who have made the "cut" in one of the ten different 16 and 32-player draws. A complete "imbalance"...we think so!?
