Midwest Squash Gets Boost as Australian Pro Scott Denne Takes Over at Lakeshore
by the Squash Groupie

May 10, 2014 - Midwest Squash received a huge boost yesterday when it confirmed that Australian Squash Pro, Scott Denne will be the new Squash Director at the recently remodeled and reopened Lakeshore Sports & Fitness this June.

Scott who contributed to Midwest Squash especially in Cleveland along with NZ pro, Ray Lindsay who both reinvigorated squash in the Midwest region in the late 90's and 2000's. Many nationally ranked players as well as huge local amateur and professional events came out of the region under the pairs guidance.

Scott will be welcomed by the whole Squash community to the Lakeshore which has been closed 8 years and recently re opened in January under new ownership with the group owning the Lakeshore and Lincoln Park clubs.

"Having Scott come yo Chicago is one of the best things I have heard in Squash here in a long time" said David Kay, Director of Metrosquash in Chicago which is also poised for growth.

"The Squash can grow in the city in the next 3-5 years and with all the squash pro's downtown being friends, this should make it easier as it is a common goal of ours" commented Mark Heather, the UC Head Squash Professional.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity and feel the club has great potential to have the growth that made it a big squash program in the 90's and 2000's" Denne said whilst on vacation in Australia.

The ownership group has big plans for the downtown club and having a Squash pro like Denne, it will hopefully regain a lot of old members back and build on the new enthusiasm for the game.

Squash's future in the Midwest looks bright!
