Route 66, Day 18
by Bryan Patterson

June 30, 2015 - On the road again and up and raring to go, we all wanted to get some miles under our bikes. First we had to get up Edmond to find Route 66. Some good riding by all, especially the kids who were taking it in turns to relay and doing some impressive miles at good speed.

Through Chandler and we find a great motorbike museum literally around a bend and there it was. What a fascinating place, with a huge assortment of old motorbikes, and Jerry to tell you all about them. Out side a very old outhouse, made of rock and still standing, and apparently two toilets!

A beautiful ride on the old Route, past some really lovely small houses which were extremely wwell kept but again some very derelict building. Into Chandler and a visit to Boom-a-Rang a diner which had some great fried chicken sandwiches – very filling too I might add.

Fueled up we were on our way again and on to Stroud. This was on a KOA camp site. It was beautiful lake side site, and the lake was pretty high as there had been some storms over Oklahoma over the last few weeks. Thankfully we had not seen any rain.

Tent up food and sleep – yes we were getting more and more tired each day, but we knew that we were on the down side of Route 66.
