World's Elite Set For US Open In Philadelphia
from PSA Media

August 14, 2014 - The world's top squash players, led by current World No.1 Gregory Gaultier and World Champion Nick Matthew, will converge on Philadelphia to do battle in the 2014 Delaware Investments US Open on October 11.

The PSA World Series event will see Gaultier and Commonwealth Games Gold medal winner Matthew joined by the likes of Mohamed Elshorbagy, Ramy Ashour and Amr Shabana, the Egyptian World No.3, No.4 and No.5, respectively, while Spain's World No.7 Borja Golan, Egyptian World No.9 Karim Darwish and German World No.11 Simon Rösner complete the top eight seedings.

With five current and former World No.1s in the draw, the US open looks set to be a tightly contested tournament with Matthew and Gaultier, who met in the 2013 final when the Frenchman prevailed 3-0, seeded to once again lock horns in the title decider.

It will be Matthew's first PSA tournament of the 2014/15 season as he returns from an extended break following the 2014 Commonwealth Games while fellow Englishman James Willstrop, the man he beat to Gold in Glasgow, is a notable absentee from the line-up.

The 30-year-old former World No.1 has been ruled out due to a hip injury which he will have operated on in September.
